Thiophosgene

A production and application platform ranging from trichloromethyl sulfochloride to thiophosgene has been established. And the main products include Isothiocyanate series (such as enzalutamide intermediate) and Sulpho-chloroformate series (such as phenyl chlorothionocarbonate and naphthyl thiochloroformate, etc.).


I. Isothiocyanate series

Reaction formula   R-NH2 + CSCl2 → R-NCS

Isothiocyanate is an important organic synthesis intermediate that can be used in a variety of organic reactions. It is good for the synthesis of various types of sulfur-, nitrogen- and oxygen-containing compounds, especially heterocyclic compounds, which are widely used in pesticides, pharmaceuticals and dyes. Most of the synthesized heterocyclic compounds have biological activities, and are used as antibacterial agents, insecticides and herbicides, as well as drugs for antisepsis and anti-inflammation and cancer treatment. Moreover, the synthesized heterocyclic compounds can also be used to determine the amino acid sequences of peptid and proteins or serve as fluorescein markers. Meanwhile, isothiocyanate can be used to prepare small molecule sulfur-containing and nitrogen-containing compounds, or to react with amine-containing resin to form thiourea resin containing thiourea groups.


II. Thiochloroformate series

Reaction formula  R-OH + CSCl2  →  R-OCSCl

Thiochloroformate is an esterified derivative of thiophosgene. It can serve as a substitution for thiophosgene in various chemical reactions under many conditions. While, Thiochloroformate is more stable and convenient for transportation compared with thiophosgene.
